Sex Educator of the Week: Philip McCabe

What project(s) in sex ed are you currently working on?

As a Sexual Health Educator, I provide staff development & training on a multitude of LGBTQI Health Concerns including Interpersonal/Sexual/Domestic Violence.  I also develop curriculum for health care providers for the School of Nursing and Medical Schools on LGBTQI Cultural Competency and Eliminating Health Disparity for the Queer Community. I also coordinate the www.NJGAYHeath.com website.

Bio:
Philip McCabe has an extensive background in providing public health advocacy and community education within the LGBT communities since 1979. McCabe served as a staff consultant for the Lesbian and Gay Community Services Center NYC and the National Voices and Faces of Recovery LGBT SpeakOUT.  He was the former chairperson of The National Coalition for LGBT Health -Tobacco Work Group on Treatment Issues. McCabe serves on the Board of Directors of the NALGAP the Association for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender Addiction Professionals and Their Allies, and holds the position of President. He contributed to the Center for Substance Abuse Treatment’s, “A Provider’s Introduction to Substance Abuse Treatment for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Individuals” as a principal writer and was distinguished as a Master Trainer for the curriculum.  He was appointed to the Board of Trustees of NJCASA, the New Jersey Coalition Against Sexual Assault, and also serves on the Governor’s Advisory Council Against Sexual Violence Prevention and Public Education Committee.
